Because I wanted this doll to look more like a typical BJD I decided to cut out the eyes, this way I can position them however I want and make her able to look up, down, left or right!
Marking out the eyes (Mostly going along with the shape of the mold) I started cutting them out with an x-acto knife. The Vinyl around her eyes were pretty thick so I had to scrape away some from the inside as well in order to make the eyeballs fit.
Looking good already! Surely she looks a bit creepy right now but once I have her face-up done she will look much better! Once I was happy with the way the eyes sat I started sanding off the edges with fine grit wetordry sandpaper. (I started with 400 and followed up with a 1000 grit for a more smoother finish) I used 20mm eyes that I bought from ebay, I'm not really happy with this color but I have a few more of them on the way.
Because I don't want there to be a weird bump where the flap is I hot glued a magnet into it. I roughed the edges of both the doll and magnet with sandpaper first so that they would stick better! I also didn't cut the flap off all the way, I didn't want another part that could fly off easy so I just left it like that, its easy to bend but its better not to overdo it because it might break at one point (Especially with the holes from the hair that would rip it apart easily!)
And there we go! Now I can focus on making a wig! I have to save her face up for later as I'm currently waiting for certain materials to get here. Check back later for my process on making a wig!
And of course a huge shout out to fumsmusings for the tutorial on how to cut out eyes for Monster High Dolls!
